Product Feature Details

Figure 1: Structure of the roller follower NAST-ZZUU type
Structure and Features
The roller follower is a compact and highly rigid bearing with a built-in needle bearing, used as a cam follower or as a guide roller for linear motion.
The outer ring is designed to be thick-walled so that it can withstand impact loads, as it rotates while being in direct contact with the mating surface.
In addition, precision cage-equipped needle rollers are built into the inside of the outer ring, which prevents skewing, provides excellent rotating performance, and allows for reliable operation even at high speeds.
Roller followers are available in both separable types, where the inner and outer rings can be separated, and non-separable types, where they cannot be separated.
The outer diameter of the outer ring is available in both spherical and cylindrical shapes. The spherical outer ring can absorb misalignment during installation with ease and helps to reduce uneven loads.
They are widely used in applications such as cam mechanisms of automatic machines and dedicated machines, various transport devices, conveyors, bookbinding machines, tool changers for machining centers, pallet changers, automatic painting machines, and slide-out forks in automated warehouses.

Cautions and Prohibitions
Handling
(1) Do not disassemble each part. It may cause loss of function.
(2) Do not drop or hit the roller follower. It may cause injury or damage.
In addition, please note that when shock was applied, the product may lose its function even though there is no visible damage to the external appearance.
(3) When handling the product, wear protective gloves, safety shoes, and the like as necessary to ensure safety.
Precautions for use
(1) Avoid continuous use at temperatures above 80°C. If the temperature exceeds this level, resin and rubber parts may be deformed or damaged.
(2) Be careful to prevent contaminants such as cutting chips or coolant from entering. Otherwise, it may cause damage.
(3) If cutting chip or other contaminant adheres, please clean it and then reapply lubricant.
(4) Roller followers can bear radial load, so please avoid using them in a way that involves thrust load.
(5) In cases of slight oscillation, it is difficult for an oil film to form on the contact surfaces between the rolling element and the rolling surface, which may cause fretting. Please use grease with excellent fretting resistance. In addition, it is recommended to perform a rotating operation of about one full turn periodically to form an oil film on the rolling surface and rolling element.
(6) If the rigidity and accuracy of the mounting components are insufficient, the load on the bearing will be locally concentrated, and the bearing performance will be significantly reduced. Therefore, please thoroughly consider the rigidity and accuracy of the housing and base, as well as the strength of the fixing bolts.
Lubrication
(1) Some types of roller follower are not filled with grease depending on the model number, so please lubricate the ones not filled with grease before use. Standard grease is No. 2 lithium soap based grease.
(2) Avoid mixing different lubricants, and be sure to replenish lubricant as needed during use.
Even if the thickener is the same type of grease, differences in additives and other components may have adverse effects on each other.
(3) Please also apply lubricant between the roller follower and the mating rolling surface before use.
(4) When used in locations subject to constant vibration, clean rooms, vacuum, or special environments such as low or high temperatures, please use grease suitable for the specifications and environment.
(5) The consistency of the grease changes depending on the temperature. Please note that changes in consistency will also affect the sliding resistance of the roller follower.
(6) After lubrication, the sliding resistance of the roller follower may increase due to the mixing resistance of the grease. Be sure to perform a break-in operation and allow the grease to fully blend in before operating the machine.
(7) Even with seals, excess grease may splatter around during initial use or immediately after re-lubrication, so please wipe it off as needed before use.
(8) The properties of grease deteriorate and its lubrication performance declines over time, so it is necessary to inspect and replenish the grease according to usage frequency.
(9) Lubrication intervals vary depending on usage conditions and operating environment. Please determine the final lubrication interval and amount based on actual machine operation.
Storage
Please store the roller follower indoors, in MISUMI's packaging and shipping configuration, avoiding high temperatures, low temperatures, and high humidity.
For products stored for a long period, the internal lubricant may have deteriorated over time, so please replenish the lubricant before use.
Disposal
Please dispose of the product appropriately as industrial waste.
