Cautions and Prohibitions of OMRON Micro Switches
OMRON Micro Switches Safety Precautions
●Micro Switches Protection structure
- The Micro Switches, Do not use underwater.
Lead wire types meet the test conditions for the following standards, but these tests are to check the ingress of water after leaving them underwater for a certain period of time, and are not to open or close the switch underwater.
JIS C0920: Degrees of protection provided by enclosures for electrical equipment (IP Code)
IEC 60529: Degrees of protection provided by enclosures (IP Code)
Protection class: IP67 (checks the ingress of water after leaving the Micro Switches underwater for 30 minutes at a depth of 1m) - Please note that constant water droplets on the cover, opening and closing the cover with water droplets on it, or sudden temperature changes can cause water to get inside the cover due to breathing.
- Avoid contact with oil or chemicals
as this may cause the materials used to change or deteriorate. - Avoid using the product of Micro Switches in an environment where silicone adhesives, oil, grease, etc. are present, as this may result in poor contact due to the generation of silicone oxide.
●Micro Switches About soldering
When soldering the lead wire to the terminal, wrap the conductor around the terminal hole before soldering. As a guideline, soldering should be done within 3 seconds with a soldering iron tip temperature of 300°C or less, and noexternal force should be applied for 1 minute after soldering. Working at excessive temperatures or heating for long periods of time can cause deterioration of the Micro Switches's characteristics. When performing automatic soldering, solder at260°C or less for 5 seconds or less. Make sure that the flux and solder liquid level do not exceed the level of the board.
● Cam/Dog Operation
- When operating with a cam or dog, the operating speed, operating frequency, amount the actuator is pressed, and the material and shape of the cam or dog will affect the durability of the Micro Switches, so please check the actual product inadvance.
OMRON Micro Switches Usage Notes
Regarding installation
- Always turn the power OFF when installing or removing the Micro Switches, performing wiring work, or performing maintenance and inspection. To avoid the risk of electric shock or burning.
- For M3 screw mounting types, use M3 screws and flat washers, spring washers, etc. to mount firmly. The tightening torque should be 0.27 to 0.29 N m. Tightening beyond the specified torque can cause deterioration of the seal and damage the product.
●About the control settings
Please select a material for the operating body that has low friction resistance. Also, make sure that the operating body is shaped so that it does not interfere with the seal rubber. This can cause damage to the Micro Switches anddeterioration of the seal.
Micro Switches Handling
Please handle the switch with care not to tear the rubber seal on the Micro Switches.
● Regarding lead wire type wiring
Do not apply a load to the lead wires or wire them in a way that causes them to bend directly from the lead wire outlet, as this may cause damage to the switch or deterioration of the seal.
●About use with Micro Switches
Even when using within the operating range, loads that generate inrush or surges may cause a decrease in durability, so insert a contact protection circuit as necessary.
