More details here.
A ferrite core is a filter that absorbs noise from high-frequency signals. By attaching a ferrite core to the cable through which a noise current flows, it is possible to increase the impedance of the cable and suppress noise. The ferrite core is made of soft ferrite, a mixed ferrite mainly composed of iron, and the case is made of plastic or resin that prevents cracking or chipping of the ferrite. The most common types are split types that can be attached with a single-action without cutting the wiring cable, and ring types that pass the cable through the hole in the ring, but additionally, there are various types of shapes such as a thin sand core, a thin FPC / ribbon cable core, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to select according to the shape of the cables and parts used.
