Reagents are chemical substances used for synthesis experiments and measurements. A typical example is phenolphthalein. It turns red when the target of measurement is alkaline. Reagents differ in state such as powder and liquid depending on the product, as well as purity and weight, etc. There are various methods of measurement using reagents, such as one involving heating a test paper for two minutes while applying water vapor, and one involving rubbing a surface with a cotton swab to collect a sample.
